Safety Tips:

Here are a few safety tips we’ve compiled to help minimize the risks of using poppy seed tea.

1. Be careful when combining poppy seed tea with other substances, including prescriptions, over the counter medications, alcohol, etc. Some combinations can increase negative side effects includiring respatory depression, headache, dehydration, nausea, and potentially more.

2. After washing your seeds 3 times, mix all of the tea together and divide it up into doses. This will make the concentration of the tea consistent and will make it easier to gauge whether you should drink more or not.

3. Use your tea within a day. Poppy seed tea is a natural product and seems to go bad pretty fast after adding the water.

4. Sip slowly, then pay attention to how you feel. If you’re going to feel effects from tea made using a certain amount of seeds, you will start to feel it after about 15-20 minutes. Be warned, though, it can take up to an hour for the effects to peak; poppy seed tea is very long-lasting at all stages of the experience.
